IDI, created by Mitchell R. Hammer, Ph.D. and Milton J.. Bennett, Ph.D., is a 60 item theory-based, paper and pencil test that measures 5 of the 6 stages of the Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity.

IDI was exhaustively tested for reliability and validity. It is the leading instrument used in the United States to test cross-cultural skill patterns.
